Overview
Video conferencing services have made it easy for teams to set up and host live video calls with their fans around the world. Fans are familiar with traditional press conferences and the group of press who ask questions and have direct access to players, coaches and management. WIth Plus.Fan, teams now have the power to deliver authentic, real-time conversations between players, coaches, and management directly to their fanbase — creating a direct connection that’s raw, unscripted, and incredibly powerful.

Teams on Plus.Fan have set up live conversations with ownership, management team, former players, current players, team staff and coaches – keep in mind that fans want to hear from anyone connected to the team. The opportunity for fans to participate in a Q&A session or even listen in to a press conference is a special experience and adds tremendous value to their membership.
Why Is It Popular With Fans?
From our tagline – fans want more than a ticket. Being a part of a Zoom call with their favorite sports teams because it gives them a unique, personal experience they wouldn’t get from just watching games. If you ask most fans, they would describe a job in sports as a “dream” – taking part in a call with management and team staff gives them a sense of almost being there.
It’s a chance to interact directly with players, ask questions, share their support, and feel like part of the team’s journey. This kind of access makes fans feel appreciated and more connected to the athletes they admire, turning their loyalty into a deeper, more meaningful relationship.
Steps to Setup
#2
Basic Scheduling
Coordinate with team management and players’ or guest availability. In addition, confirm where and how the player will be participating. If live and in-person confirm that the location is suitable with lighting, sound and low traffic/noise in the background – unless coming directly from the field of course.
#1
Structure
Decide on the duration of the event and what the structure you might like it to be – open town hall, an announcement, etc.
If an open town hall, consider using your preferred video and live-streaming platform to limit the potential number of guests – just be sure to communicate the cap to your fans ahead of time.#4
Technical Requirements
All your planning can be wasted if there are technical issues preventing a smooth live Zoom session from taking place. Most video platforms will allow you to run a practice session ahead of time – use it!
#4
Confirm Participaton & Plan
Get a list of players or coaches who will join the call. Once you have the confirmed participant – don’t be afraid of planning the conversation(s) and giving the guest or group a breakdown of the questions ahead of time.
Technology
Any dedicated resources to produce the event usually aren’t necessary. If staff is able to examine a number of locations for proper lighting and sound that should usually alleviate any issues. We recommend investing in a reliable microphone with filtering and using any one of the popular services (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc.) to manage attendees and host the stream.
